Why man cannot be free if he puts his opinion above God's
The following story illustrates why the American Founding Fathers insisted that all human law must be based on and not contradict God's law.
In short, as the Bible explains, without God, "every man is right in his own eyes".
Again let me repeat, America cannot be free if we do not put God back into schools, government, business, church, and families. Freedom is impossible without God:

Its not the Economy
Today's debate about whether we should only be concerned with economic issues verses (or without) moral issues, only shows the country's ignorance. America's founders were very clear about this. Only an America blinded by evil could miss it. America is not 'the economy'. The economy is only a result:

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (CN) - A man who was hurt in a car crash but was misidentified as a cancer patient claims security guards at Prince George's Hospital beat him up when he tried to leave the hospital to avoid chest surgery he didn't need - "to have a potentially cancerous mass removed from his chest." He adds that one guard repeatedly called him "bitch" as he roughed him up.
Joseph Wheeler says a June 23 car accident put him in the hospital, which is owned by Dimensions Health Corporation. When he woke up hungry on June 24 and asked a nurse for food, she told him he couldn't eat because he was scheduled for surgery, Wheeler claims in Prince George's County Court.
Wheeler says the nurse checked his identification bracelet and told him the surgery was "to have a potentially cancerous mass removed from his chest."
Wheeler says his ID bracelet "contained a name that was different from Mr. Wheeler's, appeared to be that of a woman, and had a birth date that was 13 years prior to his own."
The complaint continues: "Mr. Wheeler, still in serious pain from the car accident and subsequent treatment from injuries sustained, was starting to fear for his safety as the hospital had misidentified him and he was being prepped to go into a surgery that he knew nothing about.
"At this point, Mr. Wheeler's wife, Felicia Ann Wheeler, came into the room to see her husband. Mr. Wheeler immediately told Mrs. Wheeler about what was taking place. The Wheelers decided that it was in their best interest to leave Prince George's Hospital Center and seek medical care for Mr. Wheeler elsewhere."
Mrs. Wheeler confirmed with nurses outside her husband's room that he was scheduled for cancer surgery, and when she told the nurses that she and her husband were leaving, "an argument ensued."
According to the increasingly bizarre complaint, Mr. Wheeler, "hearing the argument, took out his I/V, got out of the hospital bed, put his clothes on, and started to walk out of the room. He was bleeding from the spot on his hand where that I/V had been connected.
"Mrs. Wheeler and the nurse met Mr. Wheeler at the door. The nurse told Mr. Wheeler that he was not allowed to leave. She put a bandage on Mr. Wheeler's hand to stop the bleeding from the I/V spot, and then yelled for security.
"Mr. Wheeler, now bandaged and clothed, began to walk toward the exit of the floor while his wife gathered the rest of his belongings. As he moved toward the exit, two large men in security uniforms moved quickly toward Mr. Wheeler."
These men, defendants William Reese and Donovan Scott, worked for the hospital and/or defendant Broadway Services, according to the complaint. The Wheelers say the two security guards were "immediately hostile."
"Defendant Scott harshly asked, 'Where do you think you're going?' Mr. Wheeler told both Reese and Scott that his business was finished at the hospital and that he was on his way out," the complaint states.
"In the moments immediately following this exchange, defendant Scott began to appear angry and upset with Mr. Wheeler. He began to use profanity directed at Mr. Wheeler about getting back to Wheeler's 'damn room.'
"At this point the two officers put on black padded gloves in front of Mr. Wheeler and defendant Scott started to hit his fist against his own hand and moved closer in proximity to Wheeler's face. Defendant Scott appeared angry and agitated."
Wheeler, "in fear for his safety," tried to reason with the guards.
"He told the officers that he had been in a serious car accident and suffered from multiple injuries to the torso and shoulders. Wheeler also told the officers that he was retired from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and that he knew that the security officers had no right or authority to detain him. Wheeler stated that he wanted to leave."
At that point, Wheeler says, Scott grabbed him and shoved him "hard from behind into the adjacent wall and metal railing," hurting his ribs.
The complaint continues: "Mr. Wheeler, in serious pain and feeling like he was going to black out, fell to floor. Defendant Scott stood over him and yelled, 'Get off the floor bitch! This game is over!'
"Defendant Scott continued, 'I don't care who you think you are, this is my camp, you listen to what I got to say!' The vocal officer then grabbed Mr. Wheeler and pulled him up off of the ground as Wheeler pleaded with the officer to stop hurting him.
"At this point the defendant Reese said to the vocal officer, 'Man, ease up on him. He might really be hurt.' Defendant Scott replied, 'Hell no, he don't come up in here and be telling us what the fuck to do!'"
As the two guards "escorted" him back to his room, "Scott accused Wheeler of attempting to push the second officer down a flight of stairs," and "continued to shout expletives at Wheeler," according to the complaint.
Wheeler says the men took him to the hospital security office, where an unidentified lieutenant questioned him.
"After Mr. Wheeler explained what had happened, the lieutenant looked at Wheeler's hospital-provided identification bracelet and acknowledged that Wheeler had been misidentified," Wheeler says.
But that was not the end of the conflict. Wheeler says the lieutenant became agitated when he would not return the incorrect bracelet, and ordered the security guards to stop him from leaving.
He says a plainclothes hospital employee, a woman he identifies as an "administrator ... intervened in the conversation" and after he explained the situation, said she would make sure he "would have his own private room and any type of drug he wanted, just to name the pain killer."
Wheeler says he and his wife chose to leave the hospital, but when he tried to leave with the incorrect ID bracelet, one of the security guards "charged Wheeler, again calling Wheeler 'bitch,' and shoved him against the wall."
"Mr. Wheeler spent the next three days at St. Mary's Hospital and was diagnosed with four broken ribs, a sprained shoulder, a ruptured spleen, and a concussion," he says.
The Wheelers seek $3.2 million in compensatory damages and $9.5 million in punitive damages for assault and battery, false imprisonment and infliction of emotional distress.

A lawsuit has been launched against the sheriff's office in Marin County, Calif., over an episode in which deputies barged uninvited into a 64-year-old man's home and shot him three times with a Taser, screaming "stop resisting" while the incapacitated victim writhed in pain on the floor.
The sheriff's version of the episode was that watching "selected" video segments of the events may mislead people.

The episode developed late in June when Peter McFarland, a consultant, returned home one night from a charity fundraiser and fell on his front steps, injuring his knee. Paramedics were called to treat his injury.

Then as the paramedics departed, McFarland reported, two deputies barged in.
"All of a sudden they just showed up, came in here like there was a fire," he said.
The deputies insisted on taking him to a hospital for an evaluation, according to the television report.
"We're going to take you to the hospital for an evaluation," one deputy says on the video. "You said if you had a gun you'd shoot yourself in the head."
McFarland said that statement was no more than hyperbole, reflecting how much pain he was in from his fall and the fact he was exhausted.
He refused to go and argued with the deputies. He told them to get out of his house and got up to go to bed.
That's when he was shot by the deputies, three times. The officers were yelling, "Stop resisting. Stop resisting," as he screamed unintelligibly while writhing uncontrollably on the floor.
His wife was pleading for the officers to stop, telling them McFarland had a heart condition.
John Scott, McFarland's attorney, told the television station it is "hard to imagine something this shocking could happen."
McFarland was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, but the charges later were dismissed. The attorney told the station the officers had no search warrant or any legal reason to enter the private home.
The station interviewed Dr. Byron Lee, a cardiologist, who said "the Taser has some real risks that if you can get Tasered in the right places, you can cause sudden death and cardiac arrest."
The station later reported when the sheriff responded to concerns about the incident.
The sheriff's office's written statement to the station said, "The decision to resort to the use of force is never taken lightly and deputy sheriffs (sic) undergo an extensive amount of on-going training to ensure those decisions are both appropriate and fall within the guidelines established by law and department policy."
[Thats comforting isn't it? Psycotic abuse of citizens falls within the guidelines established by law and department policy.]
The station said the officers also said watching someone being jolted is hard.
"That reaction can all too often also be influenced by using only small, selected segments of a much lengthier video that better depicts the complexity of the event in question."

Federal workers earning double their private counterparts

At a time when workers' pay and benefits have stagnated, federal employees' average compensation has grown to more than double what private sector workers earn, a USA TODAY analysis finds.
Federal workers have been awarded bigger average pay and benefit increases than private employees for nine years in a row. The compensation gap between federal and private workers has doubled in the past decade.
Federal civil servants earned average pay and benefits of $123,049 in 2009 while private workers made $61,051 in total compensation, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The data are the latest available.
The federal compensation advantage has grown from $30,415 in 2000 to $61,998 last year.
Public employee unions say the compensation gap reflects the increasingly high level of skill and education required for most federal jobs and the government contracting out lower-paid jobs to the private sector in recent years.
"The data are not useful for a direct public-private pay comparison," says Colleen Kelley, president of the National Treasury Employees Union.
Chris Edwards, a budget analyst at the libertarian Cato Institute, thinks otherwise. "Can't we now all agree that federal workers are overpaid and do something about it?" he asks.
Last week, President Obama ordered a freeze on bonuses for 2,900 political appointees. For the rest of the 2-million-person federal workforce, Obama asked for a 1.4% across-the-board pay hike in 2011, the smallest in more than a decade. Federal workers also would qualify for seniority pay hikes.
Congressional Republicans want to cancel the across-the-board increase in 2011, which would save $2.2 billion.
"Americans are fed up with public employee pay scales far exceeding that in the private sector," says Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., the second-ranking Republican in the House.
Sen. Ted Kaufman, D-Del., says a pay freeze would unfairly scapegoat federal workers without addressing real budget problems.
What the data show:
Benefits. Federal workers received average benefits worth $41,791 in 2009. Most of this was the government's contribution to pensions. Employees contributed an additional $10,569.
Pay. The average federal salary has grown 33% faster than inflation since 2000. USA TODAY reported in March that the federal government pays an average of 20% more than private firms for comparable occupations. The analysis did not consider differences in experience and education.
Total compensation. Federal compensation has grown 36.9% since 2000 after adjusting for inflation, compared with 8.8% for private workers.

In the Annals of Congress for September 25, 1789, it records the founding congress deciding to ask the President of the United States to recommend to the people of the UnitedStates a day of prayer and thanksgiving:
Mr. [Elias] Boudinot said he could not think of letting the session pass over without offering an opportunity to all the citizens of the United States of joining with one voice in returning to Almighty God their sincere thanks for the many blessings He had poured down upon them. With this view, therefore, he would move the following resolution:
Resolved , That a joint committee of both Houses be directed to wait upon the President of the United States to request that he would recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a Constitution of government for their safety and happiness. . . .
Mr. [Roger] Sherman justified the practice of thanksgiving, on any signal event, not only as a laudable one in itself but as warranted by a number of precedents in Holy Writ: for instance, the solemn thanksgivings and rejoicings which took place in the time of Solomon after the building of the temple was a case in point. This example he thought worthy of Christian imitation on the present occasion; and he would agree with the gentleman who moved the resolution. Mr. Boudinot quoted further precedents from the practice of the late Congress and hoped the motion would meet a ready acquiescence [approval].
The question was now put on the resolution and it was carried in the affirmative.
This request to President Washington was made the same day that this very same congress agreed to the final wording of the first amendment.
Then on October 3, 1789, President George Washington, concurring with the sentiments of Congress, issued the following proclamation:
Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor. . . . Now, therefore, I do recommend . . . that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted; for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed. . . . And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations, and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions . . . to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue.
This is absolute proof that national days of prayer are constitutional. There is absolutely no doubt that the first amendment allows for national days of prayer. There is absolutely no doubt that a national day of prayer does not violate the Constitution. There is absolutely no doubt that a national day of prayer does not constitute an "establishment of religion". There is absolutely no doubt that the first amendent's "freedom of religion" clause actually protects the right of government to have national days of prayer.
Anyone who disagrees is not an American. Any judge or executive who disagrees is deserving of impeachment. Any politican who disagrees needs to be voted out of office. And anyone else in a position of public trust who disagrees should be discharged.
But go ahead and squirm, twist and turn until you come up with an excuse not to act and just let the lies continue. This generation long ago lost its backbone and along with it the privalege of living in a free country. America is the reproach and laughing stalk the Founding Fathers warned we would become if we shunned God. And now we can only clentch our teeth as we reap the rewards of secular humanism: Tyranny, war, famine, disease, poverty, homosexuality (if you arn't one, you will be forced to become one - they will not stop with just the right to be perverse, they will demand everyone become one of them) ........ and more.

It should be obvious to every American at this point that without the 'supremacy of God' you only have the 'arbitrary rule of man' - there is no 'rule of law' today in America (or Canada).
When God was supreme in America, all other 'legal traditions' and 'fundamental values' were consistant with God's law and that brought freedom, greatness, prosperity, and happiness to the United States. Now that God has been removed from America it is easy to see that America is experiencing the exact opposite, slavery, weakness, poverty, and misery.
Mr. Trottier is "concerned when God is a foundation for authority". The United States founding people and founding fathers were concerned when 'men' were a foundation for authority. They fought the American Revolution to rid this continent of human authority and put God in his rightful place on the throne of the United States.
Thomas Paine called America to revolution by stating what he believed was "common sense" - that the 'rule of law' can't exist without the 'supremacy of God', that God must be the authority to have a good legal system and a free country:
"But where, says some, is the king of America? I'll tell you friend, he reigns above, and doth not make havoc of mankind like the royal brute of Britain. Yet that we may not appear to be defective even in earthly honors, let a day be solemnly set apart for proclaiming the charter; let it be brought forth and placed on the divine law, the word of God; let a crown be placed thereon, by which the world may know, that so far as we approve of monarchy, that in America THE LAW IS KING. For as in absolute governments the king is law, so in free countries the law ought to be king; and there ought to be no other. But lest any ill use should afterwards arise, let the crown at the conclusion of the ceremony de demolished, and scattered among the people whose right it is." - Thomas Paine, Common Sense, p. 36, quoting Dragonetti
Where God is not supreme, men are easily deceived by men who speak the words "rule of law", but have changed the definition of that phrase to mean the 'rule of government micromanagement of citizens lives', the 'rule of political correctness', the 'rule of the Godless', the 'rule of bureaucrats', the 'rule of immorality', the 'rule of liberal democrats', the 'rule of false Republicans' - in a word: tyranny.
No American founding father would agree with Mr. Trottier, and if there was a founding american citizen who did, he would probably never admit it because of the shame it would bring him. (Case in point: The negative reaction of founding Americans and the American founding fathers to Thomas Paine's "Age of Reason".)
America's founding fathers rightly predicted that without the supremacy of God, the citizens of America would eventually be ruled, not by law, but by force. Without God, man's virtue disappears and along with it his freedom. Without God he must have men as masters. And as America, Canada, and England today can see, those masters are dredfull and becoming worse:

It is true, you can have government without God, but it will not be 'civil'. Even if it starts out that way, rule by men will always deteriorate into anarchy, because it is the nature of man that every man thinks he is right. The only hope for good government is a solid foundation void of the arbitraryness of man, and that can only be found in God. Men cannot be the authority in government, they can only be the administrators of government:

It is impossible for men to create good government on their own. No matter how intelligent, no matter how knowledgeable, no matter how much they study the governments of the past and present. Human understanding is just to imperfect. Only by appealing to God can men achieve the understanding necessary to create good government. And without a continued dependence on the supremacy of God every nation will soon become a reproach that its citizens will be ashamed of. But what about athiests, won't they be offended by proclaiming "the supremacy of God"? An athiest is a traitor to America and Canada. There is no reason to worry about offending a traitor. Traitors are only deserving of punishment. Founding Americans and the founding fathers clearly rejected atheism and any true American today will do the same:

That is the bizarre - and scary - rule that now applies in California and eight other Western states. Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha - as low as you can get without being John Kerry
"... LtCol Chessani immediately reported the deaths of the 15 civilian Iraqis to his superiors. Upon hearing of the 15 civilian deaths, not one of LtCol Chessani*s superiors 岸 including top generals 岸 considered it unusual. Not one ordered a further investigation. In fact, they commended him for a job well done. However, several months later, a known Al Qaeda propaganda operative instigated an inflammatory Time magazine news article written by reporter Tim McGirk 每 later proven to be false 每 accusing the Marines of massacring innocent civilians. Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha, a leading anti-war critic, saw his opportunity and jumped in. Murtha was head of the House military appropriations subcommittee 每a position with significant power over the military. He echoed the Time magazine story. Murtha appeared on several major television networks and publicly accused the young enlisted Marines of ※cold blooded§ murder and Marine officers of a ※cover-up.§ He blamed it all on the stress of being in Iraq too long. Incredibly, these accusations were made even before the investigation was completed. Murtha was the same person caught on tape negotiating bribes with Arab Sheiks during the FBI*s 1980 Abscam investigation 每 he was an un-indicted co-conspirator in that case. The trumped-up charge: failing to properly report and investigate the November 19, 2005 incident. The Government did everything it could to convict LtCol Chessani. It spent millions of taxpayer dollars, employed over 65 Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) agents 岸 the largest investigation in that agency*s history 岸 and granted immunity to scores of witnesses, all in their attempt to make Jeffrey and the ※Haditha Marines§ political scapegoats. ... "
Federal Judge Vaughn Walker - " ... "Californians and Americans are waking up to the awful realization that the written Constitution may have no authority, oaths of office might be meaningless, and our republic is severely threatened by tyrannical judges and politicians. Bolstered by the broken oaths and homosexual 'marriage' demands of Jerry Brown and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Vaughn Walker has proven himself to be a tyrannical judicial activist devoted to satisfying himself, rather than being a faithful, duty-bound supporter and defender of the written Constitution." ... With Congress out of his hair for the week, President Obama couldn't resist hiring another radical socialist for one of the most important jobs in America. Knowing that many in his party wouldn't support him, the President used a recess appointment to force Dr. Don Berwick into the top spot at Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). By sidestepping the confirmation process, the White House also avoided a messy public debate over Berwick's fanatical support for "death panels" and rationing. To justify the move, the President's communications director said Republicans were stalling the nomination--but, as everyone with any political sense knows, the GOP couldn't stall Berwick if they wanted to! Under Senate rules, the majority controls the committees. So it's the Democrats--not Republicans--who decide when to hold hearings and schedule votes. They refused to do either, which should indicate just how offensive this nominee is. FRC has fought his appointment since the White House originally floated his name. As the head of CMS, Berwick will be in charge of almost a trillion dollars in benefits, not including the massive expansions of Medicaid under the new health care law. And just to give you an idea of how powerful his post will be, the Senate Republican Policy Committee explains that CMS is larger than all but 15 of the world's economies. Obviously, the President's decision to seat Berwick without so much as a hearing is shocking for a job of this magnitude. "It's nearly unprecedented for an administration to recess appoint [someone] that has not even come up for a hearing. It's unfortunate that President Obama saw fit to take this extraordinary step," said Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), "and appoint an individual charged with overseeing a benefits budget larger than the economies of Denmark, South Africa, and Israel combined without so much as a hearing to examine his views." So what are these "views" that the White House is so desperate to cover up? For one, Berwick is a socialist. He was caught on video suggesting that "any health care funding plan that is just... must redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer..." Secondly, he thinks it's cheaper to let sick patients die than provide care. "The decision is not whether or not we will ration care," he said last year, "the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open." He is, in his own words, "romantic" about nationalized health care, particularly Britain's system. He despises free market capitalism. And the list goes on and on. Congress is right to be outraged. Senators like Tom Barrasso (R-Wy.) were stunned to learn that while they're on vacation, President Obama gave Berwick the keys to one of the biggest federal agencies in the country. "Because this post administers the Medicare program, it touches virtually every senior in America ..." he said. "This recess appointment proves [that Obama] did not have the support of a majority of Democrats and Republicans in the Senate... Once again, [the President] is going behind closed doors out of fear the American people will learn that Dr. Berwick plans to use rationing as a cost-cutting tool."

The execution of the "deeming" document allows Democrats to start spending money for Fiscal Year 2011 without the pesky constraints of a budget. The procedural vote passed 215-210 with no Republicans voting in favor and 38 Democrats crossing the aisle to vote against deeming the faux budget resolution passed. Never before -- since the creation of the Congressional budget process -- has the House failed to pass a budget, failed to propose a budget then deemed the non-existent budget as passed as a means to avoid a direct, recorded vote on a budget, but still allow Congress to spend taxpayer money. House Budget Committee Ranking Member Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) warned this was the green light for Democrats to continue their out-of-control spending virtually unchecked. Chatigny: Obama's Gift to Sexual Predators When the President's nominees are too extreme even for liberal Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), be afraid. Be very afraid. Yesterday, during a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Feinstein was visibly upset over Judge Robert Chatigny's history of coddling sexual predators. One Hill staffer sent over this note, "The Dems are clearly upset that they are being asked to support this nominee. Feinstein, horrified after hearing [Sen. Tom] Coburn's comments [on Chatigny's record] asked [Chairman Pat] Leahy for another week before the vote. She said in 18 years she has never asked him for anything, and she wanted an extra week. Denied." (Fast forward to 31:10 of this link to watch the video.) Despite Sen. Feinstein's protest, the Committee voted Chatigny out of committee on an 11-7 party-line vote. This is a nominee who said he identified with a serial murderer who confessed to killing eight young girls. On a phone call about the case, Chatigny said he could "well understand where [the killer's] coming from." In fact, the judge insisted, he "should never have been convicted" in the first place. Apparently, neither should child pornographers. Judge Chatigny slashed their sentences below the state minimum in 75% of his court's cases. It's pretty clear that this judge sympathizes more with the sexual predators than their victims and families--yet President Obama wants to single him out for promotion to America's second highest court. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), perhaps warming up for a bitter debate over Elena Kagan, took the Committee to task for even considering Robert Chatigny. "He should not be elevated to the Second Circuit. That's one step below the United States Supreme Court. The Second Circuit consistently handles some of the most important cases in our country... It's a very august position that should not be given to just anybody... [especially someone who] allows their personal feelings and biases [to] lead them astray and violate the law."

Jeff Sessions, R-AL, said it appeared the Obama administration is "nullifying existing law" and suggested Morton may not be the right person for his post if he fails to enforce federal immigration law. Thomas Jefferson--and the rest of America's founders--believed that freedom was the principal possession, because liberty is a divine--not human--gift. Listen to Jefferson:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men." (Declaration of Independence)
Jefferson could not be clearer: America's founders desired a land in which men might live in liberty. By declaring independence from the government of Great Britain (and instituting new government), [America's Founding Fathers], did not intend to erect an idol (government) that men would worship. They created a mechanism designed to protect that which they considered to be their most precious possession: liberty. In other words, the government they created by the Constitution of 1787 was not the object; freedom's protection was the object.
Again, listen to Jefferson: "That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men." In other words, government is not the end; it is the means. Government is not the goal; it is the vehicle used to reach the goal. Nowhere did Jefferson (and the rest of America's founders) express the sentiment that government, itself, was the objective. Listen to Jefferson once more:
"That whenever ANY FORM OF GOVERNMENT becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness." (Declaration) (Emphasis added.)
Jefferson is clear: people have a right [and duty] to alter or abolish ANY FORM OF GOVERNMENT that becomes destructive to liberty. To America's founders, there was no such thing as a sacred cow when it came to government. Government had but one purpose: "to secure these rights." When ANY FORM of government stops protecting sacred, God-given liberties, it is the right and duty of people to do whatever they deem appropriate to secure their liberties--even to abolishing the government.
To America's founders, patriotism had everything to do with the love of liberty, not the love of government!
Today's brand of patriotism (at least as expressed by many) is totally foreign to the fundamental principles of liberty upon which America was built. I'm talking about the idea that government is an end and aim in itself; the idea that government must be protected from the people; the idea that bigger government equals better government; the idea that criticism of the government makes one unpatriotic; the idea that government is a panacea for all our ills; and the idea that loyalty to the nation equals loyalty to the government. All of this is a bunch of bull manure!
When government--ANY GOVERNMENT--stops protecting the liberties of its citizens, and especially when it begins trampling those liberties, it has become a "destructive" power, and needs to be altered or abolished. Period.
Can any honest, objective citizen not readily recognize that the current central government in Washington, D.C., long ago stopped protecting the God-given rights of free men, and has become a usurper of those rights? Is there the slightest doubt in the heart of any lover of liberty that the biggest threat to our liberties is not to be found in any foreign capital, but in that putrid province by the Potomac?
Therefore, we must cast off this phony idea that we owe some kind of devotion to the "system." Away with the notion that vowing to protect and prolong the "powers that be" makes us "good" Americans. The truth is, there is very little in Washington, D.C., that is worthy of protecting or prolonging. The "system" is a ravenous BEAST that is gorging itself on our liberties!
Patriotism has nothing to do with supporting a President, or being loyal to a political party, or anything of the sort.
Is it patriotic to support our country ... "right or wrong"? This is one of the most misquoted clich谷s in American history, by the way. Big Government zealots (on both the right and the left) use this phrase often to try to stifle opposition by making people who would fight for smaller government appear "unpatriotic."
The clich谷, "My country, right or wrong," comes from a short address delivered on the floor of the US Senate by Missouri Senator Carl Schurz. Taking a strong anti-imperialist position and having his patriotism questioned because of it (what's new, right?), Schurz, on February 29, 1872, said, "The senator from Wisconsin cannot frighten me by exclaiming, 'My country, right or wrong.' In one sense I say so, too. My country--and my country is the great American Republic. My country, right or wrong; if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right." Schurz then later expanded on this short statement in a speech delivered at the Anti-Imperialistic Conference in Chicago, Illinois, on October 17, 1899. He said, "I confidently trust that the American people will prove themselves . . . too wise not to detect the false pride or the dangerous ambitions or the selfish schemes which so often hide themselves under that deceptive cry of mock patriotism: 'Our country, right or wrong!' They will not fail to recognize that our dignity, our free institutions and the peace and welfare of this and coming generations of Americans will be secure only as we cling to the watchword of TRUE patriotism: 'Our country--when right to be kept right; when wrong to be put right.'" ... In a free society, genuine patriotism demands that our country be RIGHT, as our nation's policies and practices reflect the values and principles of its citizens. To feign some kind of robotic devotion to a nation without regard to sacred principle or constitutional fidelity is to become a mindless creature: at best, to be manipulated by any and every Machiavellian that comes along, or, at worst, to be a willing participant in tyranny.
As to loyalty to a President merely because he is President, Theodore Roosevelt may have said it best:
"Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the President or any other public official save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him insofar as he efficiently serves the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the exact extent that by inefficiency or otherwise he fails in his duty to stand by the country. In either event, it is unpatriotic not to tell the truth--whether about the President or anyone else."
Hence, freedom-loving Americans cannot afford to become infatuated with Washington, D.C. We cannot allow the [politicians and] propagandists on network television to distort the meaning of true patriotism in our hearts.
Patriotism means we love freedom. It means we understand that freedom is a gift from God. It means we understand that government has only one legitimate function: to protect freedom. It means that our love of liberty demands that we oppose, alter, or even abolish ANY FORM of government that becomes destructive to these ends. And it means that we will never allow government to steal liberty from our hearts.
As I asked at the beginning of this column, What's more important: freedom and its undergirding principles, or the entity meant to protect it? The right answer is, freedom and its undergirding principles. If you understand that, then you rightly understand that the current government we find ourselves under is in desperate need of replacement. And whatever, however, and whenever that replacement reveals itself is not nearly as important as that liberty is preserved.
On the other hand, if you mistakenly believe that government (the entity meant to protect liberty) is more important than liberty, you are both tragically deceived and pathetically impotent to preserving freedom. You may also have identified yourself as an enemy of freedom.

Payoffs for Votes - Bribes, paying off officials for favors, is what you used to hear about third world countries and it was shameful. Now in the US it is open, on a much grander scale, and no one even blushes.
Tyranny - Forced Medical Insurance
The tyranny throughout government at all levels is just too obvious now in the United States: "... Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) told CNSNews.com that Congress has the authority to force individual Americans to buy health insurance because the U.S. Constitution ※charges Congress with the health and well-being of the people.§The words ※health§ and ※well-being§ do not appear anywhere in the Constitution. ..." Please, do your duty.
Lie to us, Deceive us, we love it.
※A loophole in the Senate health care bill would let insurance companies place annual dollar limits on medical care for people struggling with costly illnesses such as cancer.§And if you want to know just how hypocritical... how devious... how sleazy... Harry Reid and Barack Obama really are, read this from the Associated Press: ※Adding to the confusion, the language is tucked away in a clause of the bill labeled &No life-time or annual limits.*§
It is time for the Montana approach.
Federal "healthcare" is going to be illegitamately forced on all Americans. To protect its citizens, each state must use the resources under its command to prevent the federal government from enforcing its new unconstitutional law. Each state needs to draft legislation along the following lines:
H.B. 1 - State of Michigan Legislature
Whereas there is no power given to the Federal Government to legislate healthcare in the Constitution and;
Whereas the Federal Government has usurped the power of the states and the people by passing healthcare legislation;
The state of Michigan hereby gives authority to the executive branch of Michigan's state and local governments to stop any federal attempt to enforce its healthcare legislation on the citizens of Michigan, by whatever power they deem necessary, including but not limited to the use of law enforcement and the national guard.
Further, the state of Michigan hereby agrees to come to the aid and defend any Michigan citizen and his neighbors who must use his or their second amendment right to keep and bear arms against a federal attempt to enforce its healthcare legislation on said citizen, because the state or local government has not yet arrived to defend that citizen.
Enforce the Constitution
Forget about "enforcing the [unConstitutional] laws we already have", you hypocrites, enforce the Constitution and remove those laws. Vote no on "enemies domestic". Vote yes on "the right to keep and bear arms" and employ them in defending the Constitution, and the natural[God given] rights of United States citizens.
The longer good men sleep, the stronger the enemy gets.P.S. Dear States, this is your last chance to redeem yourselves and prove you are not deserving of the same judgement as the federal government.

A Sad Day for America and the Marine Corps - LtCol Chessani Retires

ANN ARBOR, MI 每 He defended our Nation for over twenty-three years . . . often away from his wife and children . . . so that we could be home safely with ours. All patriotic Americans owe a debt of gratitude to this American hero.
After a protracted four and a half year legal ordeal over the ※Haditha massacre§ - a massacre that never happened - LtCol Jeffrey Chessani completed his final day of active duty service in the United States Marine Corps last Friday, July 16, 2010. Thus ended the promising career of one of America*s most effective combat leaders in Iraq〞a political scapegoat to appease the anti-war press and politicians.
LtCol Chessani served three combat tours in Iraq as well as serving in the First Persian Gulf War and in Panama, receiving numerous awards and honors. At the time of the Haditha incident, he was commander of the 3rd Battalion (※The Thundering Third§), 1st Marines〞one of the most decorated units in the history of the Marine Corps.
This loyal Marine officer faced criminal charges as a result of a legitimate combat action taken by four of his Marines after being ambushed by insurgents in Haditha, Iraq, on November 19, 2005. He cared deeply about the young Marines entrusted to his command, and refused to ※throw them under the bus§ to save his own career.
On November 19, 2005, at approximately 7:15 a.m., a Marine convoy was rolling through Haditha, Iraq 〞 a terrorist stronghold. Suddenly, a roadside bomb went off, destroying a Marine Humvee, killing one Marine and seriously injuring two others.
The Marines immediately received fire from the ambushing insurgents, who were shooting from nearby civilian-occupied homes. A four-man fire team responded as trained: they cleared several houses occupied by the armed insurgents, and in the ensuing room-by-room, house-by-house gun battle, it was reported eight enemy were killed.
Tragically 15 civilians also died. In urban combat, where insurgents purposefully use civilians as human shields, civilian casualties are tragic, but not uncommon. In fact, sometimes the insurgents themselves kill civilians to achieve a propaganda victory by blaming the Americans.
LtCol Chessani immediately reported the deaths of the 15 civilian Iraqis to his superiors. Upon hearing of the 15 civilian deaths, not one of LtCol Chessani*s superiors 岸 including top generals 岸 considered it unusual. Not one ordered a further investigation. In fact, they commended him for a job well done.
However, several months later, a known Al Qaeda propaganda operative instigated an inflammatory Time magazine news article written by reporter Tim McGirk 每 later proven to be false 每 accusing the Marines of massacring innocent civilians.
Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha, a leading anti-war critic, saw his opportunity and jumped in. Murtha was head of the House military appropriations subcommittee 每a position with significant power over the military. He echoed the Time magazine story.
Murtha appeared on several major television networks and publicly accused the young enlisted Marines of ※cold blooded§ murder and Marine officers of a ※cover-up.§ He blamed it all on the stress of being in Iraq too long. Incredibly, these accusations were made even before the investigation was completed.
Murtha was the same person caught on tape negotiating bribes with Arab Sheiks during the FBI*s 1980 Abscam investigation 每 he was an un-indicted co-conspirator in that case.
The trumped-up charge: failing to properly report and investigate the November 19, 2005 incident. The Government did everything it could to convict LtCol Chessani. It spent millions of taxpayer dollars, employed over 65 Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) agents 岸 the largest investigation in that agency*s history 岸 and granted immunity to scores of witnesses, all in their attempt to make Jeffrey and the ※Haditha Marines§ political scapegoats.
Lt. Colonel Paul Ware, USMC, an Investigating Officer who heard testimony in several cases involving the charged enlisted Marines, blasted the credibility of the government witnesses and expressed concern that the allegations were nothing but a tactic ※to erode public support of the Marine Corps and mission in Iraq.§ He went on to say:
※Even more dangerous is the potential that a Marine may hesitate at the critical moment when facing the enemy . . . §
Retired General Thomas McInerney, former Joint Force Commander and Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force, called the prosecutions of the Haditha Marines ※despicable.§ He warned:
※We cannot fight a war like that . . . We*re not taking care of our people.§
Evidence of what our nation lost by the unjust prosecution of LtCol Chessani, can be garnered from a few excerpts from his official Combat Fitness Report, a required annual evaluation of a Marine officer*s performance prepared by his superiors. It covered the period of September 2005 to February 2006 岸 which included the date of the Haditha incident:
? ※Leads Marines from front in every operation. Demonstrates moral courage every day. Doesn*t hesitate to report bad news fast or contest unrealistic plans/poor concepts. Despite the complexity and size of his AO [area of operations], he always maintains a calm, cool demeanor.§
? ※Always seeks advantage over complex, diverse insurgent enemy. Truly one of the finer thinkers in this COIN environment.§
? ※One of the top 3§ infantry/cavalry battalion commanders ※of 13 who have served with RCT 每2 [the regiment] during OIF. A superb leader, who knows his men, knows the enemy, knows his business. Doesn*t attract a lot of fanfare; just gets the job done to an exceedingly high standard.§
? ※Long ball hitter; recommend selection for promotion to Colonel and TLS [Top Level School].§
The Reviewing Officer, Major General Huck added his comments: ※Top notch officer with outstanding potential. Promote and select for TLS [Top Level School]. Post TLS slate for Regimental command and subsequent joint tour. Unlimited potential and value to the Marine Corps. Capable of the most challenging assignments.§
The Thomas More Law Center, a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and detailed military lawyers, LtCol Jon Shelburne, USMC, and Capt Jeffery King, USMC, successfully defended LtCol Chessani throughout his prosecution. The criminal charges against Chessani were dismissed on the grounds of Unlawful Command Influence. The government lost its appeals of that dismissal.
Not giving up its quest for a scapegoat, the government then convened a Board of Inquiry to determine allegations of misconduct. On December 11, 2009, the Board of Inquiry ruled that LtCol Chessani was not guilty of misconduct, but stated he must retire without loss of rank. And on June 25, 2010, the Secretary of Navy announced his acceptance of the military Board of Inquiry findings.
