They actually thought they could get away with it! They actually tried to put a blindfold over your eyes!
When it comes to securing our borders -- some of our elected leaders actually thought you would let them "back-burner" the issue. They actually thought that they could delay and deceive and stall and put off any talk of SECURING OUR BORDERS until AFTER the NOVEMBER ELECTION.
But you're NOT about to let them get away with it!
If they think youre not aware of what they are trying to do, then they are wearing the blindfolds!
Last week, we asked you to send our Republican leaders in Congress a major wake-up call... a no-nonsense demand that they MUST pass five specific items within the month of September if they expect the support of the American people in the November elections!
You sent the wake-up call!! And it looks like they're actually starting to listen!
A few days ago, the Senate passed Item #5 on our agenda, the Federal Funding Transparency and Accountability Act by unanimous consent. This vital bill will establish a database available on the Internet so you and I can find out just whos been fed all the government pork.
But that's not all because several days ago -- in what can only be described as a stunning and unexpected reversal -- Republican leaders in the House announced that Item # 1 on our agenda is NOW Item # 1 on their agenda as well and that -- SECURING THE BORDERS -- IS BACK ON THE TABLE!
Speaker of the House Denny Hastert came out swinging and announced, "Our borders are a sieve and we are at war and we certainly need to act like we are at war. We need to close our borders."
And House Majority Leader John Boehner called border security, our number one priority. Recognizing this "emergency on our borders," Boehner promised that Congress would "respond with more border patrol agents, more enforcement, more fencing and more technology.
But let's not pop the champagne corks just yet!
Hastert and Boehner only have about two weeks to drag the leaders of the Senate KICKING AND SCREAMING -- over to the American people's way of thinking!
And frankly, NOW is our best opportunity! Let's face it. Do you really think our elected leaders will be accommodating AFTER the election?
That's why Hastert and Boehner very desperately need YOUR HELP -- RIGHT NOW!
Let's flood Congress' fax machines and drive our message home!
Because quite frankly... we don't have a lot of time!
The Childishness Has Got To Stop
Yes, quite frankly, the actions of some of our elected leaders have been downright childish!
You know what happened over the spring and summer.
John McCain and Ted Kennedy attempted to sneak an amnesty bill through the Senate.
They called it "comprehensive reform" but the American people weren't fooled.
And when the American people said "No Amnesty!" a majority of Senate Democrats and a few Republicans went back to the drawing board and passed a bill that can only be described as "amnesty light!"
The whole ordeal reminds me of a scene I witnessed last week in a supermarket check-out line.
A gentleman was placing his groceries onto the conveyor belt and his small daughter proceeded to pick up a huge candy bar and tried to sneak it onto the belt when she thought the father wasn't looking.
The father saw her out of the corner of his eye and admonished her, "You know that candy will spoil your dinner."
The child -- without missing a beat -- replaced the candy bar, picked up a smaller candy bar and defiantly placed that item on the belt.
Finally the father and daughter reached a compromise. He bought and took custody of the candy bar and promised to let her have it after dinner.
When it comes to amnesty, the Senate is behaving a lot like that child. When the American people saw Kennedy and McCain sneaking an amnesty bill through the Senate and said "No," the same Senators reached for a smaller "amnesty bar" and defiantly placed it on the belt!
And just as this father and child reached a compromise, the American people can also reach a compromise with our elected leaders.
Simply put we MUST DEMAND that they pass REAL security and enforcement provisions -- BEFORE THE ELECTION as Hastert and Boehner are proposing. Or they will face the consequences on Election Day!
And in return, the American people can acknowledge their right to discuss "comprehensive reforms" and what to do with the 12 million illegal aliens already living in the United States to their hearts' content AFTER THE ELECTION!
Admittedly, it is a legitimate issue which must be addressed. But -- I'm sure you'll agree -- it's just not as URGENT as securing the border!
The time has come to separate the issues of border security and "comprehensive immigration reform." Securing the borders is an issue that can no longer be held for ransom by Senators for the purpose of pushing amnesty.
Effectively the Senate is pouting, "We'll give you secure borders but only if you let us tie it to amnesty." And that's extortion plain and simple!
Make no mistake... if we don't DEMAND SECURE BORDERS NOW before the election -- like that defiant child -- they'll simply try to put amnesty on the table again after the election -- when they believe it's "safe" to do so -- AND WE STILL WON'T HAVE SECURE BORDERS!
Why Is Securing The Borders NOW So Important?
The Untied States is under invasion by people who believe our country already belongs to them. They believe it is their inherent right to change the American culture, to transform our society to accommodate their agenda.
Consider this statement that is advanced by the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA) -- a radical open borders organization within the United States -- as recounted by Michelle Malkin:
"We do not recognize capricious frontiers on the bronze continent. Brotherhood unites us, and love for our brothers makes us a people whose time has come and who struggles against the foreigner 'gabacho' who exploits our riches and destroys our culture. With our heart in our hands and our hands in the soil, we declare the independence of our mestizo nation. We are a bronze people with a bronze culture."
Or how about this quote from Juan Jose Gutierrez -- another proponent of open borders:
"The border remains a military zone. We remain a hunted people. Now you think you have a destiny to fulfill in the land that historically has been ours for forty thousand years. And we're a new Mestizo nation. And they want us to discuss civil rights. Civil rights. What law made by white men to oppress all of us of color, female and male. This is our homeland. We cannot - we will not - and we must not be made illegal in our own homeland. We are not immigrants that came from another country to another country. We are migrants, free to travel the length and breadth of the Americas because we belong here. We are millions. We just have to survive. We have an aging white America. They are not making babies. They are dying. It's a matter of time. The explosion is in our population."
Before you dismiss Gutierrez as a nut case; consider the fact that this attorney and political science professor formerly headed the Mexican-American Studies Center at the University of Texas Arlington.
A nut case? Perhaps.
Easily dismissed? I think not!
We're Sending The Wrong Message
Congress took its first stab at comprehensive immigration reform in 1986 and passed the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), which granted amnesty to 3 million aliens but also called for tough immigration enforcement measures.
Amnesty came quickly.
The tough immigration enforcement measures never really materialized.
Critics of IRCA said at the time that we were sending the wrong message to potential illegal aliens.
Critics claimed that people who wished to enter the country illegally KNEW that IRCA would be long on amnesty and short on enforcement and that -- once they found their way across the border -- the United States would simply offer another amnesty program down the road!
Millions of illegal aliens later, these critics are vindicated, we are indeed offering amnesty again and America is worse off than before!
NOW, the Senate claims -- that this time around -- they're serious about enforcement.
For instance, the Senate bill allocates monies to build a security fence on the border -- the CBO estimates the cost at $3.3 billion.
But guess what! We will only be permitted to build that fence -- per the Senate bill -- after proper consultation with authorities in Mexico.
You can bet that we'll still be talking about building that fence years from now when our elected leaders try to "sell" us the next amnesty bill!
Let's send the RIGHT message for once and let's do it while they're listening!
Time is short but YOU can -- once again -- make a big difference and win this fight for the American people once and for all!
Use the hyperlink below to send your 30 URGENT and personalized Blast Fax messages to President George W. Bush and EACH and EVERY INDIVIDUAL Member of the House and Senate Leadership -- Democrat and Republican alike.
Tell them that the American people are UNIFIED on at least one aspect of "immigration reform." Our borders MUST be SECURE. Demand that they put petty squabbling and partisan politics aside for once and -- in the spirit of TRUE COMPROMISE -- do the ONE thing RIGHT NOW that EVERYONE can agree is desperately needed! Because quite frankly, Majority Leader Boehner is right. This is a national emergency and securing the borders simply can not wait until next year.
