As many of you know, my involvement with political matters has increase a lot this year. The Baldwin 2008 presidential campaign has come to set up its headquarters in Grand Rapids and I have announced my candidacy for State House of Representatives for the 76th district as well.

I am affiliated with the US Taxpayers Party of Michigan which, together with its national affiliate, the Constitution Party is the third largest political party in the nation, and the fastest growing. It has surpassed the Libertarian Party, and is far beyond the Green Party and all the others, and for very good reasons. We stand for the right stuff. If this nation is to survive as the land of the free, we must return to the principles that made us great.

Repairing a constitutional foundation with "new ideas" or "change" is like trying to repair a cement foundation with Elmer's glue and paper clips. You have to repair a foundation with the same materials used to build it. The constitution of the United States and our state constitutions are sufficient to correct the problems we are experiencing in our land today - if only we would adhere to them.

It is time to raise up a new party. The current big two have demonstrated that, although they talk well, they refuse to adhere to the constitutional boundaries which results in...Well, just look around.

Can a third party candidate win? That's a question that was asked when Abraham Lincoln was running. He was the first Republican President. He ran against the powerful Whig party candidate. Does anyone remember who that was? Of course not. The Whigs were defeated and fell off the scene. Now both the Republicans and Democrats have become the parties they once despised.

With all the disgust about the options for the office of President this year, I offer you an option you can vote for in good conscience. His name is Chuck Baldwin. Please research him at www.baldwin2008.com.

I am passionate about turning this nation around. Hopefully I have not lost you yet. Are you willing to put some actions to the complaints? There are multiple opportunities for anyone with any skills and abilities to get involved and get the right people elected. I have been active in the presidential campaign and am familiar with the needs it has. If you are able to volunteer, or if you have stuff to donate, everything from office chairs to children’s toys please let me know. Chuck needs your help.

There is one other candidate that needs your help - Me. My race for the House is considered a key race in Michigan. I am in need of volunteers to help run and work in the campaign, and I am in need of funds. The campaign has been solely funded out of my own pocket so far, but I am not able to supply the $20,000 to $30,000 that I will need to win it. I have been getting counsel from a high level campaign manager (Chuck Baldwin's manager), and have become confident that this race is winnable for me, but I can't do it alone.

Do you want it from the heart? After much prayer, counsel, and consideration, Cheryl and I decided that I should do this full time. I lost my job back in January due to IRS action against my employer and the unemployment has run out. I'll be giving 100% to this campaign this summer without any pay whatsoever. Yesterday while walking past Anita, the campaign manager, I overheard her talking to someone about volunteering. She was talking about how the signers of the Declaration of Independence gave not only their fortunes, but their lives for our freedoms, and so many of our fathers that shed their blood and dispensed of their own lives in battle over many wars and conflicts. Do you understand the sad condition of our nation today? It bears only a resemblance to the nation our fathers engineered for us. I'm giving everything I've got for this cause. Won't you join me?
