"This is easily the largest income redistribution scheme since the income tax.... All of this helps explain why so many in Congress are so enamored of 'doing something' about global warming. They would lay claim to a vast new chunk of the private economy and enhance their own political power."
-The Wall Street Journal
Do you remember long gasoline lines in the 1970s? Do you remember even and odd day rationing?
I do! And if you think that $4.00 per gallon at the pump for gasoline is bad, just wait for the 1970s to return. At least that's what could happen if liberals in Congress get their way.
What are we talking about?
We're talking about the price of gasoline at the pump and attempts by liberals and RINOs (Republicans-In-Name-Only) in Congress to RAISE THE PRICE OF GASOLINE AT THE PUMP EVEN HIGHER!
Just a few days ago,
the Senate attempted to pass the Boxer Climate Tax bill, a deceptive piece of legislation that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell claimed would raise the price of gasoline at the pump BY ANOTHER $1.40 a gallon!
McConnell continued to summarize the economic consequences of the Boxer bill:
"It is, at its heart, a stealth and giant tax on virtually every aspect of industrial and consumer life. It would result in massive job losses. And it seeks to radically alter consumer behavior, without any measurable benefit to the environment in return."
"And that's why it's so hard to comprehend the Majority's decision to move to a bill, at the start of the summer driving season, that would raise the price of gas by as much as $1.40 a gallon, home electricity bills by about 44 percent, and natural gas prices by about 20 percent."
"Overall, it's expected to result in GDP losses totaling as much as $2.9 trillion by 2050."
And who would be asked to bear that unbearable cost? The American people! And it's not peanuts... we're talking about a built-in future indebtedness of $29,000 per every single household in the United States!
And make no mistake... when it comes to giving relief to Americans who are suffering because of the high cost of gasoline at the pump, our legislators could enact real legislative solutions TOMORROW!
Unfortunately they're too busy trying to deceive us into supporting measures that raise our taxes and increase their power -- AND THEY'RE NOT ABOUT TO STOP ANYTIME SOON!
What liberals and RINOs in Congress are trying to do is not merely stupid. When it begins to destroy a great nation, STUPIDITY BECOMES DOWNRIGHT EVIL!
If we deluge them long enough and hard enough... if we deluge them right now, they will listen... but only if we speak up!
Use the hyperlink below to go to send a hard-nosed message to President Bush and each and every Member of the Democrat and Republican Leadership of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. Average Americans are suffering! Gasoline is now over $4.00 per gallon and some believe it may rise even higher... even to $10.00 or more per gallon!
Call our elected officials on the carpet and demand that they stop using the misery of the American people as a pathetic excuse to raise taxes, accumulate more power and feed the ravenous pig that we otherwise know as the federal government. Tell them that when it comes to prices at the pump the GOVERNMENT IS THE PROBLEM! Demand that they undue the damage they have done, create jobs, revive the American economy and, most importantly, give much needed relief to the American people in the long
term.
Tell them you won't be fooled by veiled attempts to raise taxes that are "packaged and sold" as energy policy. Tell them that you will not be fooled by childish finger-pointing at American businesses (i.e. parading American oil executives in front of Congress for finger-wagging dog-and-pony shows simply insults the intelligence of the American people). Demand that they lift the constraints that have stopped us from building refineries. Demand that they STOP BLOCKING oil exploration in Alaska,
the Outer Continental Shelf, the Bakken Formation, and a host of other places in the United States that are teeming with recoverable oil.
Most important... let them know there is no excuse NOT TO DO THIS TOMORROW... if they really want to serve the American people who elected them to office! And if they need motivation, tell them to simply pretend that the American people DON'T want sound energy policy and lower prices at the pump and tell them they should conspire to railroad sound energy legislation through Congress in the dark of night, as they tried to do with Amnesty for 12-20 million illegal aliens. Then maybe they'll get
the message!

The New York Post described the mammoth scope of the Boxer Climate Tax bill and its voracious appetite for the paychecks and savings of Americans, and concluded: "The only thing it will cool is the US economy."
But Boxer says it will serve as a map for future legislation.
In other words, they're not quitting! They're just getting warmed up... they're moving full-steam ahead and another attack on sanity and solvency is on the way as you read this urgent appeal.
And the fact that the price of gasoline is rising past our ability to afford it, is only adding fuel to the fire... making liberals and RINOs in Congress more aggressive. Some actually believe that if they can "sell" their tax schemes as sound energy policy that Americans are worried enough and stupid enough to buy it!
Make no mistake, the Boxer Climate Tax bill WAS NOT about reducing carbon-emissions or "saving the planet." It was about deceiving you and me... about picking your pocket.
Ironically, as the Boxer bill hit the floor of the Senate, the average price of a gallon of gasoline in the United States inched toward $4.00 for the first time in our nation's history, reminding us that the Boxer bill would have been a disaster for every segment of our economy.
Look at where we stand right now:
We're now paying more than $4.00 per gallon for gasoline at the pump, and some people even believe the price could climb as high as $10.00 or $15.00. (They pay $10.00 per gallon already in many European countries although strangely, the last time I looked, gasoline was 65 cents a gallon in Egypt and 12 cents a gallon in Venezuela.)
Because the average cost of diesel fuel is $4.76 and 18-wheelers that transport goods from coast to coast RUN ON DIESEL, retail prices on food, clothing and other items are headed toward Mars. Who knows... we could soon be paying five bucks for a Big Mac.
Perhaps that's why McConnell said the following:
"At a time when Americans are struggling to pay their bills and when the price of gas seems to be rising higher and higher every day, the Democrat leadership is showing itself to be laughably out of touch by moving to a bill that would raise the price of gas even higher...."
Of course, most Americans aren't laughing at the Democrats and the RINOs in the halls of Congress. They're beginning to feel the pinch and pain of sudden inflation. They don't want to live on a diet of five-dollar bread and three-dollar water.
McConnell again:
"Now, of all times, is not the time to be increasing the burden on American consumers. Now is the time to be considering overdue legislation that would send gas prices down, not up."

Question: Who's Primarily Responsible For The Disintegration Of Our Economy?
A. The oil-producing nations? B. Big Oil in general, and Exxon-Mobil in particular? C. The U.S. government? D. None of the above?
The answer is C... your elected representatives in Washington, who -- terrified of Al Gore, the Green Goblins, and the Chicken-Little media -- have voted again and again and again to restrict drilling and refining wherever and whenever we find oil.
In order to avert this economic disaster, government only has to do one simple thing... the thing it hates to do most of all:
GET OUT OF THE WAY!
Let our free enterprise system work its old magic. Turn the private sector loose on the problem.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) -- which is frequently asked to provide the U.S. government with information about petroleum reserves -- gave the following report on ANWR:
"The total quantity of technically recoverable oil within the entire assessment area is estimated to be between 5.7 and 16.0 billion barrels (95-percent and 5-percent probability range), with a mean value of 10.4 billion barrels."
That's not a small number! The United States presently uses approximately 5 million barrels of domestically-produced oil per day (and another 15-16 million barrels of imported oil).
That means that 1000-3000 times the above referenced amount can be recovered from a tiny 3-mile radius of worthless frozen wasteland above the Arctic Circle in Alaska!
And that's just ANWR!
Experts assure us that the polar bears and their predatory friends will be unharmed. Despite that assurance, Liberals and RINOs would rather impoverish people.

That's not all.
The Minerals Management Service (MMS) recently completed an assessment of undiscovered technically recoverable resources (UTRR) underlying offshore waters on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). The astounding result:
The MMS estimate found "that the quantity of undiscovered technically recoverable resources ranges from 66.6 to 115.3 billion barrels of oil and 326.4 to 565.9 trillion cubic feet of natural gas."
OUCH! That DWARFS the recoverable oil in ANWR!
And that's not the end of the good news.
Another U.S. Geological Survey estimates that 3.0 to 4.3 billion barrels of undiscovered, technically recoverable oil lies under North Dakota and Montana in an area known as the Bakken Formation -- that's 25 times as many barrels as they'd originally thought.
But here comes the piece de resistance... wait until you hear this!
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich recently pointed out the following on his American Solutions website:
"With oil prices at an all-time high, Americans are facing escalating gas, diesel, and aircraft fuel increases. Oil prices are projected to increase further."
"Congress, however, has made it illegal to develop vast domestic oil resources in large parts of the United States.
"The most startling Congressional prohibition on domestic oil production concerns the recently enacted ban on the development of oil shale resources in parts of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming in the Green River Formation. According to a Rand Study estimate, this reserve contains over one trillion barrels of oil, with 800 billion barrels fully recoverable, or three times the current oil reserves as Saudi Arabia."
You read that right! According to Gingrich, Congress "HAS MADE IT ILLEGAL TO DEVELOP VAST DOMESTIC OIL RESOURCES..."
We're in a crisis here and yet the Democrats and their RINO partners are not simply passively guilty -- or guilty by omission -- when it comes to this crisis... THEY'RE ACTIVELY GUILTY!
They have the nerve to parade oil executives before Congress for dog-and-pony shows and wag fingers self-righteously at others.
They have the nerve to propose new taxes -- under the guise of sound energy policy -- that will drive the price up another $1.40 a gallon at the pump.
And yet they actively refuse to do what is really necessary to jump-start our economy. They would rather see 300 million Americans go broke.
Majority Leader Reid, has incredulously claimed that Democrats have attempted to address current economic problems:
"We have tried to do some legislating on gas prices and we've been thwarted at every possible step. Again, how? With Republican filibusters."
It was an out-and-out fabrication!
It was also an insult to the intelligence of every right-thinking American!
Since our elected officials are clearly guilty, we have an opportunity to pass sentence in November.
In the meantime, lets deluge them with faxes!
