Hello, my name is Gary Phillips. I am running for the office of County Commissioner for the 2nd District on the U.S. Taxpayer Party ticket, and would like to tell you why I am running.
"I believe the U.S. Constitution was created from Biblical Law and Common Law and should be adhered to when makeing local statutes and ordinances at all times. We have a representative republic and when elected, I will make decisions based not on what is popular at the time but on the U.S. and Michigan Constitutions.
The Constitution was written so We the People could be self governed using using representatives to do the will of the people, not the will of special interests.
As implied in the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America, the first duty of government is to protect the innocent and secure the blessing of liberty for all citizens.
I am running for the office of Ionia County Commissioner - District 2, because I do not believe the current commissioners are representing the will of homeowners. We are the ones after all, who pay the bills.
I have heard it said, "If you don't like the way the government is being run - don't sit around complaining about it, do something about it." I don't like it so I intend to do something about it.
If you agree with me, I would ask for your support by telling your friends and neighbors about the choice we have and at the ballot booth with your vote.
If you believe the Constitution should be obeyed by those you elect to office in Ionia County, including the township and city, then vote for one who believes the same. Most people are divided and vote along party lines. I know the voters in Ionia County are smarter than that. When you vote for the person with your moral values, you will always win.
I am not running for this office to get along but to fulfill what I think are the ideals and moral values of Ionia County's 2nd District.
