Message to the Military

The following is the text of a message available to members of the Department of Defense:

Fellow Military Service Members,

I am Ronald Graeser, a full colonel in the Army Reserve Medical Corps in retired status. I am running for the U.S. House of Representatives from Michigan’s second district.

Twenty-nine years ago, like you, I swore to defend the United States and its Constitution. Like you, I believe that citizens have a duty to defend and preserve this nation’s sovereignty, and the nation has a duty to fully support the military -- regardless of the cost.

National defense is the one government function that must never fail.

But you on active duty, on active reserve duty and to a lesser extent the retirees have been short-changed and constantly told to "do more with less". It is criminal for our rulers to task you to missions without the necessary logistics and training. It is far better to give you even more logistics and training than seems necessary and have you succeed than for you to fail because you didn’t have enough.

The house of Representatives initiates funds for the military. If I am in the house, I will always vote for full funding for whatever our general staffs decide they need.

Sincerely,
Dr Ronald E Graeser
